Cecilia Hynes Griffin is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds a law degree from Loyola University in Chicago. She began practicing law in 1990 and, in 2003, started Griffin & McCarthy, LLP, as one of two founding partners. A member of the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association, Griffin concentrates in the diverse and complex issues of matrimonial law, and was named an Illinois Super Lawyer by her legal peers. A member of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and appointed by the Cook County Circuit Court to act as a child's representative in custody and visitation proceedings, Griffin is a former editor of the Illinois State Bar Association's Family Law Newsletter and has published articles on family law topics. Nanette A. McCarthy is a graduate of Lawrence Tech University and holds a law degree from DePaul University in Chicago. Laura Hynes Ramirez holds an undergraduate (cum laude) and a law degree from DePaul University in Chicago. She began practicing law in 1992 and shortly thereafter became focused on family law, matrimonial law in particular. Ramirez, who joined Griffin & McCarthy, LLP as an associate in 2004, is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. She continues to concentrate her practice in matrimonial law in large part because clients are individuals, not corporate entities or organizations. Additionally, each client's situation is unique and, often, a marital dissolution involves issues in many other areas of the law, such as partnerships, partition and tort law. A recipient of an Illinois Bar Review Tuition Scholarship, Rooney was a law clerk for Cecilia Hynes Griffin, started practicing law in 2003 and joined Griffin & McCarthy, LLP as an associate attorney in 2004. She focuses on matrimonial law to assist people through challenging personal and family issues, which at Griffin & McCarthy, LLP, means giving clients the information they need to decide whether to pursue legal action and, if necessary, guiding them through the legal system compassionately, knowledgeably and efficiently. Kate Curler is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a law degree from Santa Clara University in California. Kathryn E. Carso is a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and holds a law degree from DePaul University in Chicago. While in law school, Carso attended a comparative family law course in Granada, Spain, was a dean's scholar, and authored a published Law Review article. Carso began practicing law in May, 2007 and recently joined Griffin & McCarthy, LLP as an associate attorney in 2008. She focuses in domestic relations with the goal to competently assist families through difficult transition periods while attempting to educate clients and minimize the length of the process.
